Providing relief and support to Indians across the country during difficult and uncertain times

Covid-19 efforts

With COVID-19 threatening the lives and livelihood of millions, these are difficult and uncertain times for India. There are many underprivileged and at-risk families that need significant help in several ways. To support our nation at this time of crisis, Dream Sports Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dream Sports Inc. (the parent company of Dream11), has identified and partnered with several NGOs to provide support in the form of meals, essential ration and health supplies to those in need. We have partnered with over 6 NGOs to support daily wagers, underprivileged and families and children with special needs. Apart from supporting NGOs, DSF has also contributed/donated to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and PM CARES Fund. Through our various initiatives, since 1st of April, we have currently helped over 6 lakh+ at-need Indians in the country. Here is an overview of all our programs and efforts to battle the pandemic together:

Feeding India – Feed the daily wager initiative

Feeding India has a network of 24,500+ volunteers present across 100+ cities in India. In partnership with them, Dream Sports Foundation provided kits to 4000 families in Mumbai that consist of 10 kg rice/flour and 4 kg pulses (2 types) along with 1 kg salt, 1 kg sugar, 1-litre cooking oil and soap that will last each family of 4, a week. These families consist of daily wage labourers and below poverty line citizens.

Angel Xpress Foundation

Angel Xpress is an NGO that provides education to around 2200 kids whose parents are daily wage labourers, rag pickers, hawkers and migrants. Currently, they are pooling in resources and raising funds to ensure the families of their children can be provided with basic rations. DSF has supported over 1000 such families with basic rations for 4 weeks with a relief package containing 5 kg rice or atta, 2kg dal, potato, onion, oil, sugar, rice, soap, and basic spices.

Pratham Mumbai, “Mumbai Food Project”

Pratham Mumbai Education Initiative has launched the Mumbai Food Project to set-up temporary food camps and distribution zones across Mumbai. They are serving pre-packaged meals and grain/necessity kits using a network of volunteers while maintaining strict distancing and hygiene protocols. DSF tied up with Pratham Mumbai to support the ‘daily cooked meals program’ under this project, serving 1600 high-at-risk individuals for 15 days

Save the Children India Initiative

Save The Children India is a non-profit organisation that envisions India as a Child-Friendly Nation. Working with them, DSF is supporting low-income families and major and minor victims of human trafficking by providing essential Health and Hygiene Kits that consist of dishwashing soap, bathing soap, detergent, handwash, sanitary pads and toothpaste to 3000 families in Mumbai for 1 month. The families shortlisted will be:

  • Families of Students with Disabilities from their Special Care Centre.
  • Families of vulnerable women living in and urban slums
  • Families of students from their remedial centres
  • Families of students attending educational interventions by STCI run in Municipal Schools

Vandana Foundation

DSF, in partnership with Vandana Foundation, distributed dry ration to most at-risk and vulnerable families in Mumbai, through the Vandana Foundation whose work has increased many-fold since their program has begun.

PM CARES Fund and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund COVID-19

Dream Sports contributed to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (CARES) fund that was set up for combatting, containment and relief efforts against the coronavirus outbreak. We also contributed to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund which provides financial and other assistance to the people affected by the pandemic, especially those from economically weaker backgrounds.

Learning by Locals Foundation

Learning by Locals is an NGO in Delhi that DSF is supporting by providing tea with breakfast to about 200 poor and stranded migrants due to the COVID-19 crisis. They are presently located in 10-12 locations in Sarojini Nagar, Kidwai Nagar and INA areas of New Delhi. Many of the affected are families with infants and children.

Medical Support

Mask Donation

A total of 4.7 lakh masks which we helped facilitate to the government of maharashtra for their various covid-19 relief efforts. 1.75 lakh KN95 masks and 2.95 lakh surgical masks were distributed to the frontline workers by the chief ministers office. The process was long and arduous but we are really happy we managed to get there in the end and very honoured to have helped in such a massive way

Sportan Voluntary Contribution

The Sportan voluntary salary contribution was a heartwarming gesture by the entire Dream Sports family as we raised Rs. 25,55,000 to provide 3500 PPE kits to the Resident Doctors in BMC fever clinics. As the Covid-19 crisis deepened, the state government designated some government hospitals as dedicated Covid-19 centres. All fever and cough patients were asked to go to what is called a ‘Fever Clinic’. The Resident Doctors here perform a preliminary examination and diagnose the patient’s condition. Often the only equipment they have is a surgical mask despite being at the forefront of primary investigation and exposure. Our mission thus became to provide these doctors and paramedics on the frontline with the best protection using the best equipment available

Mumbai Police PPE Kits

Additionally, at the behest of the Commissioner of Mumbai Police we have also contributed a further 2500 PPE kits to our Mumbai Police heroes. They are those who risk their lives every day in dangerous conditions and locations keeping others safe and we felt they needed our support in these times as well.

Sanitizer Stands

Another initiative we undertook was to provide 50 high quality stainless steel foot-pedal sanitizer stands to the Mantralaya and various other government offices. Their strategic positioning and hands free usage will help maintain safety and hygiene standards as government officials return to work

FromU2Them Program

In association with FROMU2THEM – a non-profit platform formed by a collective of passionate Mumbai residents committed to providing relief for their fellow citizens affected by the Covid-19 crisis – we will be distributing play kits procured from Funskool India for 5000 children.
The initiative will begin in Worli and we will pinpoint further locations once we begin.

The motivational outreach of sports in these communities is invaluable in terms of opportunities and confidence and we hope to build on these foundations with the communities that are part of this program and more in the future.
